Escondido Ease
This kitchen was all about working with the space, not against it. The ceilings were just seven feet high, and the homeowner didn’t want to move major elements like the cooktop—so we had to get creative with how we opened things up visually while still keeping everything super functional.
They’re a big family—four teenagers!—and the island doubles as their dinner table every night, so seating for six was non-negotiable. We used performance fabric on the dining chairs (a must with teens), brought in soft quartzite counters, and leaned into a palette that felt neutral, clean, and calming.
One of the biggest transformations was the fireplace. It used to be heavy and Tuscan—completely at odds with the rest of the home. We gave it a full refresh, turning it into something airy and bright that matched the kitchen’s more open, easygoing vibe. Everything here was designed to feel a little lighter, a little fresher, and a lot more livable.
